About these terms
These terms apply when you use this website, join Peterborough Escapes as a member, or book onto one of our events. By joining or booking, you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.
Peterborough Escapes is a social meetup group based in Peterborough, UK. You can contact us at melanie@peterboroughescapes.co.uk and we aim to reply within 30 days.
Membership
- Membership is open to adults aged 18 and over.
- You must give accurate details when you sign up and keep them up to date.
- Your account is personal to you. Please do not share your login with anyone else.
- Membership is available on a monthly or yearly plan. You choose which when you sign up, and you can switch between them by contacting us.
- You also choose whether your membership renews automatically or not. If you choose automatic renewal, it continues until you cancel. If you do not, your membership simply ends when the period runs out and we will email you a reminder beforehand so you can renew if you want to.
Fees and payment
Membership fees and event prices are shown on the website before you pay. All payments are taken through Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
If you have chosen automatic renewal, your membership is a recurring payment. By subscribing you authorise us to charge your payment method the membership fee on the same date each month or each year, depending on your plan, until you cancel. Stripe will email you a receipt each time it is charged.
If you have not chosen automatic renewal, no further payment is taken when your membership period ends. We will email you a reminder before it expires so you can renew if you wish.
If we change the membership price, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before it takes effect, so you have time to cancel if you would rather not continue.
If a payment fails, Stripe will try again over the following days. If it still cannot be collected, we may suspend or end your membership.
Your place at an event is only confirmed once payment has been received and you have had a confirmation email from us. We reserve the right to correct obvious pricing errors before a booking is confirmed.
If you prefer to pay by bank transfer or cash at events where I have a receipt book, these are also accepted.
Booking events
- Places are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis.
- Bookings are for the named member. If you want to transfer your place to someone else, ask us first.
- Some events have a minimum number of attendees and may not go ahead if that number is not reached.
- Details such as timings, venues and itineraries are given in good faith and may change. We will tell you as soon as we can if anything significant changes.
- The task is for the payment and sometimes for other things such as choice of food. This is a reminder system which will generate an email to you until it has been completed.
- Theatre tickets and holiday deposits need to be paid as soon as possible to ensure a place.
- Some restaurants require a pre-order and pre-payment or deposit. These are not refundable. The other meal payments etc can be refunded if you cancel more than 24 hours before the event. Theatre tickets are only refundable if I an re-sell them.
- Holiday deposits are not refundable unless I cannot confirm your booking.
Cancellations and refunds
Cancelling your membership: if your membership renews automatically, you can cancel at any time by [CANCELLATION METHOD — e.g. using the Cancel membership option in your account, or emailing us]. Your membership will carry on until the end of the period you have already paid for, and will not renew after that. If your membership does not renew automatically, you do not need to do anything — it will simply end when the period runs out. Either way, we do not refund part-used months or years.
Cancelling an event booking: For events where the supplier ie a restaurant has asked for payment these events are not refunded. Also holiday deposits are not refunded. Most meal payments are refundable assuming 24 hours notice is given. Theatre tickets can be refunded if 24 hours notice given and I am able to re-sell the ticket. If not, no refund will be given.
If we cancel: if we cancel an event for any reason, you will receive a full refund of what you paid for that event. We are not responsible for any other costs you may have incurred, such as travel or accommodation booked separately.
Your statutory rights: where you sign up for membership online as a consumer, you normally have 14 days to change your mind and receive a refund, less a fair amount for any part of the membership you have already used. This right does not apply to bookings for events on a specific date, which is standard for leisure and hospitality services. Nothing in these terms affects your other legal rights.
How we expect members to behave
Peterborough Escapes should be a friendly and welcoming group. We ask all members to treat each other, our organisers, and the venues we visit with respect.
We may remove a member from an event, or cancel their membership, if their behaviour is abusive, harassing, discriminatory, unsafe, or is spoiling the event for others. In serious cases we may do so without a refund.
Attending events
You attend events at your own risk and remain responsible for your own safety, belongings, and any guests you bring with our agreement. Please tell us in advance about any accessibility needs so we can do our best to accommodate them.
Many of our events are run at or by third party venues and providers, who have their own terms and their own responsibility for the service they provide.
Our liability
We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else which cannot be excluded by law.
Otherwise, our liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us for the membership or event in question, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss or damage to your personal belongings at an event.
